Setup: Post-mission. Laura Costol (my character) is injured and is in need of medical attention. While others are being seen to, Lorem Laurel (clarius) steps in to do some emergency first aid to tide her over.

[ lorem sends laura a look, finding that joke very, very unfunny given what they’ve been through.

she does try to let it slide. ] You will, you will… I’ll have Eps look you over, though. Just to be sure.

And, next time, please do us a favour and don’t be so selflessly selfish, Laura. Have the medical team look after you soon as possible. It’s their job.

What’s the point of being a leader if I don’t take risks for the group?

[clarius]

[ she’s quick to shoot back with a question of her own: ]

What’s the point of being a leader if you might leave us without a leader?

[ she tries to put heat into her words but the brief squeeze of laura's hand, desperate and strong, will probably reveal her real feelings on the thought. ]

[nockback]

( laura winces at that. it hit its’ intended mark and laura rubs the back of her neck, feeling guilty. )

I hate it when you’re right.

[clarius]

[ and lore allows herself to soften at that admission, happy that she made that bit clear with laura. hopefully, this will stick this time around. ] Just… be more careful next time.

And stay here and rest, okay? I’ll go get someone, preferably Eps, but it might take a while. It’s a miracle we all got out of that in one piece.

[nockback]

( laura manages a smile at that, doing her best to show a brave face for her friend. )

[ and, with that, lorem hurries into the busy crowd of agents and personnel and passerby, determined to ensure someone cares for laura’s wounds. ]
